Fall at the Fields is a proper observance of the game as it was struck before the engineers got hold of it: forged blades, persimmon heads, and a golf ball that must be met honestly or not at all. There is no perimeter weighting here. There is no forgiveness. There is only the strike.
Blades and persimmons are required — not encouraged, required. Tasteful confidence remains compulsory. Fun is, as ever, the entire point, though the Committee accepts no responsibility for what a wooden driver does to a man’s composure on the first tee.
The field is limited. The stories, the Committee is reliably informed, will not be.
Declared. Settled. Presented.
The field is limited and closes the moment it is full — and in any event before the first tee on Sunday, the first of November.
State your particulars below and the Committee shall be in touch with confirmation and the account to be settled.
Sunday, the first of November, upon the turf of The Fields Golf Club, LaGrange. Blades were swung, persimmons were struck, and a number of composures did not survive the first tee.
The results and the photographs are being entered into The Archives as the Committee recovers. The next fixture shall be decreed in due course; leave your correspondence address below and you shall be summoned before anyone else.
Members of the Proper Golf Society receive early access to tournament registration and a discount on every entry fee. The numbered membership tag is how one joins.
Word of forthcoming fixtures, the results of those concluded, and assorted Committee proceedings — delivered to your correspondence address as they are decreed. No titanium marketing, ever.
The Committee respects your correspondence and shall not share it with titanium sympathisers.
The Committee has noted your interest. You shall be summoned when the next fixture is decreed.
